Dean makes annual balance sheet and anticipates future actions

“Conversation with the dean” is the new program exhibited by Unicamp's Executive Secretariat for Communication (SEC). In the inaugural edition, the dean Antonio José de Almeida Meirelles talks about the most recent actions of university management, in addition to taking stock of the administration's activities in 2022. He also projects the main challenges that Unicamp should face in 2023. program, presented by journalist Patrícia Lauretti, is to expand communication with the university and external communities.

Meirelles highlighted, among other topics, the resumption of Unicamp's internationalization program based on two trips to the United Kingdom and Germany. “We want to send more students abroad, expand the exchange of researchers and public servants and find out which are the topics of greatest interest”, she said.

Regarding the balance of 2022, Meirelles highlighted inclusion actions, the resumption of the progression process, hiring, and bidding with the assistance of more sensitive areas. “We also made this immense contact with the outside world, with actors from the political world. We, in some way, participated in the electoral discussion in Brazil and with the care of an institution that is not involved in party politics, but that has opinions and suggestions regarding the future of the country”, he said.

For 2023, Meirelles emphasized the intention to improve permanence with investments in Student Housing and the University's engagement in taking the discussion of permanence to the political world. Unicamp's rector also considered it important to expand programs such as pedagogical residency.

Other challenges cited by the dean were “ensuring that the difficulties that people experience with rising inflation are recovered, expanding hiring and thinking about other issues such as the inclusion of black and brown teachers”.
