With a musical performance by the Açu Quartet – which is part of the Student-Artist project, Unicamp opened this Wednesday the 12th edition of the program “Welcoming New Teachers”.

Organized by the Dean of Undergraduate Studies (PRG), by the Teaching and Learning Support Space (EA2) and by the Educational Technologies Management Group (GGTE), the event brought together professors who joined Unicamp in March 2022, for a approximation process in which they are guided about the functioning of the University and discuss teaching and learning processes.

Held in the University Council room (Consu), the ceremony was attended by Unicamp's rector, Antonio José de Almeida Meirelles, and the pro-rectors Ivan Toro (Undergraduate), Rachel Meneguello (Post-Graduate), Fernando Coelho (Extended and Culture) and Fernando Sarti (University Development). Directors of units and schools from Cotuca (Colégio Técnico de Campinas) and Cotil (Colégio Técnico de Limeira) also participated in the event.

“It's great to welcome new professors, new students, new servants. It is a sign that the University is renewing itself”, said the dean, who exhorted the new professors. “Unicamp is a diverse university. I want all of you to feel part of a whole and to seek interaction, ”he said.

According to Faculty of Education professor Arnaldo Pinto Jr., who is EA2's coordinator, the welcoming program has three main objectives: to help new professors with their insertion in Unicamp's academic and institutional life; introduce new professors to institutional resources and mechanisms that may favor their professional performance, with emphasis on teaching activities; and discuss the dimensions of the teaching and learning processes, the participation of students in pedagogical projects and current demands in relation to the role of university teaching.

“We would also like to highlight an additional objective, which is aimed at a closer relationship with new teachers, seeking to better understand their particularities, histories, needs and demands, in order to share experiences, since we also consider ourselves an integration body. for the teaching community”, said the professor. EA2 is a body linked to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies.
